'Patan' focused on some of the largest fighting of 2025 until his light heavyweight title rule came to an end.
Alex Pereira's incredible run at 205 pounds was stopped by Magomed Ankalaev in the main event of UFC 313.
The former champion talked openly about potential battles outside of his weight class on the way to his fourth title defense earlier this month.
Pereira has shown interest in going to heavyweight to face Jon Jones for a while now, but lately there was still an exciting chance of his lap.
Oleksandr Uysk named Pereira as one of the two fights he wants before he retires, but this will have to be pushed back for the time being while the Brazilian superstar wants to avenge his loss.

Alex Pereira says that heavyweight superfights in UFC or Boxing would have been the following after UFC 313
It seems that Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev are preparing later this year for a rematch, where Augustus is mentioned by both men.
While 'Patan' could come back on the right track by reclaiming his title before he continues a super fight, those plans were put on hold of the Rematch.
Pereira recently appeared on the Ariel Helwani show where through his coach Plinio Cruz the former champion revealed what his next step would have been if he had defeated Ankalaev on 8 March.
“Probably defending the belts, but if I could go and then, not my weight class, it would be the struggle for the heavyweight in the UFC or Usyk fighting in boxing.”
Pereira also made it clear that there had been no discussions about both options at that time, this was just what his preference would have been if he was asked.
“The reasonable next step would be his weight class to defend, but if it were on his choice, he would not defend the belt after this fight. He would have gone heavyweight in the UFC or Boxing, he wanted to go up.”
Alex Pereira has to avenge his loss to magomate Ankalaev for these opportunities to exist
The loss of Alex Pereira for Magomed Ankalaev was not a one -sided Beatdown, but it was a disappointing version of the Brazilian who did not see himself.
If he had continued this loss, superfights could still have been done, even if they would not have been that big now that he is not the champion.
With the rematch apparently on the cards, however, this fight is a must-win for Pereira because back-to-back losing the conversation of these blockbuster matchups can completely kill.
Fans would still like to see it because they know how good both Pereira and Ankalaev are, but the hype would hardly be the same after 'Patan' loses its shine to a certain extent.
