Alex Pereira slams Magomed Ankalaev’s coach for ‘excuses’ after accusing former champ of cheating

Alex Pereira responded to the statements of the old coach of Magomed Ankalaev that he used a body's seam to make struggles difficult at UFC 313.

Former UFC-Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira and newly crowned title holder Magomed Ankalaev seemed to be on Visual Conditions after their fight on UFC 313. But things took a turn on the worse after the coach of Ankalaev had made some wild accusations against the former champion.

Pereira's light heavyweight title Reign came to an end by a unanimous decision against Ankalaev on UFC 313. In what is expected to be the most difficult test of his UFC career, Pereira struggled to ward off Ankalaev's aggressive style, despite the pitching of an Ankalaev.

A common story that UFC 313 introduced was that Pereira would have trouble dealing with Ankalaev's elite during their title fight. After stopping all 12 Takedown attempts by Ankalaev, Pereira attracted the anger of the coach of Ankalaev, who proposed a destructive reason for Pereira's success.

Alex Pereira responds to the claims of the coach of Magomed Ankalaev that he 'greased' on UFC 313

The old coach of Ankalaev, Sukhrab Magomedov, accused Pereira of using a greasy substance on his body to make it more difficult in the cage. Magomedov has not provided any evidence to support his claims and hinted that Pereira's Cornernman, former champion Glover Teixeira, has a history of fats.

It is important to note that Ankalaev has not repeated the accusations of his coach at the moment, and he voted verbally to grant an immediate rematch in Pereira. But that did not stop Pereira from giving a challenging response to Magomedov.

In a recent interview about the Ariel Helwani show, Pereira spoke in the cheating accusations of Magomedov.

“Absolutely nothing put on my body,” said Pereira. “It sounds like me that he is trying to make an excuse to justify the fact that he trained a man to get me down, but the man was filled for 12 of his Takedown attempts.

“Just like in a company, you can mess it up, you do what you should not do, and you apologize to justify that … You also have to ask his coach if we also put oil and vaseline on the mats, is that why Ankalaev fell on his back?” Pereira continued. “I am upset because even in my glory career I did not do anything that I should not have done. If you look at one time that I had taken away a point, it was because the referee said that there was too much dressing when that was not.

“I do everything according to the book, and that's why everything worked so well in my career.”

Prior to UFC 313, Pereira did not test positive for prohibited substances, nor was he found with the help of substances on his body to get an unfair benefit in the Octagon. However, this is not the first time that fighters are accused of Greasing, after the infamous corner incident of UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre during his fight with BJ Penn.

UFC Vederweight Zalal made similar accusations against Calvin Kattar earlier this year.

Alex Pereira was planning to call Oleksandr Usyk with a victory over UFC 313

In the above which reference was made, Pereira was asked what he looked forward to with a victory over Ankalaev at UFC 313. He revealed that he was planning to call a boxing match with Oleksandr Usyk and a superfight in heavyweight, with a different successful title defense.

Despite the fact that UFC CEO Dana White a Pereira vs. Usyk fight has closed, Pereira did not prevent a potential move to boxing once his MMA career has been closed. Before he signed at the UFC and concentrated on MMA, Pereira made a name for himself in professional kickboxing, which earned several titles in Glory.

Pereira has also plagued a future step to heavyweight to the winner of Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall to strive. At the moment Jones vs. Aspinall in negotiations, but it is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Pereira is aimed at the possible to reclaim the UFC -light heavyweight title later this year. If he returns the throne, don't be surprised if Pereira are striving for Jones, Aspinall and Usyk resumes.
