Alex Pereira vs Magomed Ankalaev UFC 313 result: ‘Poatan’ taken to deepest waters as light-heavyweight title fight goes the distance

Alex Pereira was taken by Magomed Ankalaev in the main event of UFC 313 on Saturday evening.

Since the storage of UFC 300 in April in April, Pereira had been to the disaster of all the ramps, so that the light-heavyweight division was released with three title discharges in just six months. Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree JR all fell victim to 'Patan' and his legendary force before Ankalaev got into Las Vegas.

The T-Mobile Arena again played host for a Pereira headliner on a card with a series of exciting finishes. Dana White probably had difficulty choosing bonus winners, because the night was littered with impressive moments.

Alex Pereira is a famous distant character, and that did not change in the moments prior to the UFC 313. He posed for photos with Mark Zuckerberg Backstage and did not seem to be raised as always on the way to the challenging main event.

Magomed Ankalaev was perhaps the most intriguing stylistic matchup of all the challengers of Pereira so far, given his wrestling and sambo background. However, it did not seem to be 'Patan' because he made what Joe Rogan called the 'Greatest Walkout in the sport'.

Pereira saw a provisional start of the round establishing his distance and power with low stairs, which stopped that Ankalaev could not shoot for a Takedown. The striking exchanges early were surprising even if they might have been in favor of the Russian.

It took until the end of the first round before the shot came in, with Pereira staying on his feet despite the solid access. In the second, Ankalaev has actually succeeded in being successful with the striking despite what pre-fight was expected.

By the third round it seemed as if the challenger was not worried about the frightening power of the champion at all. He walked down Pereira and ignored the pain of the regular legs, but had to take a step back after a particularly large combination.

Ankalaev did not cover himself with glory what the fans were delivered when he immediately shot the cage in the fourth. After three boring minutes, the referee Marc Goddard split them up, but it quickly ended in a similar position.

The fifth was a solid Pereira round, accentuated by a large head kick halfway when neither of them pushed the pace as expected. In the end, Ankalaev got him against the cage, but it was certainly not enough to turn around.

UFC 313 Was Night of Iconic Moments

It was not only Pereira and Ankalaev who removed fans from their seats, with entertainment all night from top to bottom. UFC 313 was delayed by more than an hour after two fights fell on the battle day, but as soon as it started, it did not disappoint.

The opening Prelim between Ozzy Diaz and Djorden Santos was a fight from the annual candidate, with the pair swinging for the Bell to Bell fences. As the night progressed, there were highlights and submissions in abundance.
