Liverpool is interested in Alexander Isak while they already want to add to their impressive line of summer transfers, but Newcastle United Legend Alan Shearer has weighed the rumors
Alan Shearer insists that there is “no chance” that Alexander Isak will be in line this season as Liverpool's number nine. The Reds are reportedly interested in this summer to bring the Newcastle United to Anfield, with some impressive transfers that have already been confirmed by the side of Arne Slot.
Finally, Isak could see as a straight replacement for the potentially departing Darwin Nunez, who has been interested in the rule of the Series A champions Napoli. However, Liverpool is not the only ones who would like to seduce Isak into a transfer, with Premier League rivals Arsenal long-term admirers of the Swede.
The magpies also do not want Isak to leave in the Park of St James, with the winners of the Carabao Cup who reportedly appreciate his services north of £ 150 million. Eddie Howe is not ready for his most dangerous attacker to leave and Isak has not shown any signs to force an exit to another controversial club.
However, the Reds have shown their own transfer -pull this summer, so that serious talent is brought to participate in the team for the 2025/26 season. During an episode of the rest, Football Podcast is, Gary Lineker is the latest signing sessions from Liverpool for the future.
He said: “Liverpool has been very impressive so far, I think, with the signing sessions they have done. They have just completed Florian Wirtz for £ 116 million, so it's a lot of dough for Bayer Leverkeursen. But he is a wonderfully talented player.”
Earlier, he then recorded Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez in the list, despite a transfer that was not yet completed. Lineker continued: “Kerkez, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for about £ 40 million, they join Jeremie Frimpong who drew a few weeks ago. All three are worth a little less than £ 200 million.”
The conversation continued to where Wirtz would fit in the front line of Liverpool, where Shearer stood: “I think he will float between the two. I think you will clearly have Salah on one side and who will be on the other hand, and it will be him who will be the 10, the forward or whatever they will do.” I will just do what they do. “
Lineker then saw the opportunity to tease the Newcastle icon about Isak that possibly exchanged black and white for red this summer, while he joked: “And Isak like the nine?”
The 54-year-old made an X-rated gesture and put his middle finger on both hands while he grinned, as he explicitly answered: “No chance!”
Shearer is probably not ready or willing to give up the services of Isak in his beloved Newcastle United, because the Swede has helped the side of their first big trophy since 1955 – defeated Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final – and then helped them to qualify for the Champions League this next season.
Isak contributed 27 goals and six assists in 42 performances for Newcastle in the 2024/25 season, and is considered an important part of How's team.
However, Liverpool has already broken the British transfer record with Wirtz and could be looking to bow that financial muscle to continue their recent success in the Premier League.
