Alexander Isak comments on Newcastle injury fear ahead of Carabao Cup final

Alexander Isak has revealed that he feels good for the last outing of Newcastle United's Carabao Cup against Liverpool.

The Sweden International has enjoyed an incredible season to become a talismanic figure for the Magpies, but has lately ended some slight injuries. A groin injury kept Isak out of operation in the Newcastle match against Liverpool in the Premier League, before he left the field against Brighton early earlier this month due to fatigue.

Isak was against West Ham earlier this week and is now willing to try to find glory with Eddie Howe and Co. The striker, 25, has found the net so far in the competition so far, and 22 times in this entire season.

The former Real Sociedad star admitted that he wants to write history while he wants to in Newcastle. Earning a first domestic trophy in almost 70 years would be to do that.

“I feel good,” he said. “I am very enthusiastic about the game. The best way to prepare is to train as normal. It will amount to what we do as a team, and that is all we can concentrate on. I am excited but focused on work.

“I just want to be the best version of myself. I have high ambitions. I try to create my own history at Newcastle. Happy with what I have done so far, but always looks forward.”

The shape of Isak has ensured that he is closely linked to a relocation of the club. Arsenal and Liverpool have been advertised as potential destinations for the sniper, who still has a contract until 2028.

Although there is more than three years about his deal, there has been a lot of speculation about Isak that has not been an extension in St James' Park. It is not yet something the player is still worried about, because he confirmed that no conversations have taken place, but he did admit that he signed the Toon Army to find success.

“Yes, as I said. I don't really think about the summer,” he said. “That will be a talk point when the season is ready. No conversations have been held yet.”

“I mean, that's why I came here,” he added. “I often said that I don't really think too much about my future. I often said that I am happy here and we are competing for titles, what you want as a football player. We have been to a final and now we are in another.

“The opportunities are there. We have to look at it for a season at the same time, and this season we can win a trophy. I have often said that I am concentrating on a work. All our focus is on Sunday and brings a trophy back.”

While Newcastle will be relieved to have Isak at their disposal, Friday saw that Arne Slot confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold would miss the Cup final. There were fear that the vice-captain of the Reds could have been a serious injury after he seemed to turn his knee against PSG, but he is expected to play again this season.

Slot confirmed the news in a press conference on Friday and said: “Maybe Curtis [Jones] can play [right-back]. Trent is not available, he will not be there, he still has to be assessed, but we expect him before the end of the season. “
