Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer takes huge new twist after Newcastle response

Newcastle has rejected an offer from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak and it seems that a deal for the 25-year-old will probably not be achieved this summer

Liverpool is willing to run away from Alexander Isak after Newcastle has rejected an offer worth £ 120 million including add-ons for rush hour. Isak wants to leave Newcastle this summer and did not become a member of the club's tour through South Korea.

Newcastle does not want to lose the Sweden International, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season and does not still have a recognized senior striker after the departure of Callum Wilson after his contract had passed.

And according to a new report from BBC Sport, Liverpool does not believe that a deal for Isak is 'feasible' with Newcastle that appreciates the 25-year-old at £ 150 million. This can mean that their ambitious plans are suspended, unless his current club is willing to compromise.

The magpies are said to be steadfast in their insistence that Isak will not be sold under their valuation – and even if that is paid, they will not punish a deal unless a replacement is officially protected.

Liverpool has already spent more than £ 250 million this summer on the Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

When asked for the future of Isak earlier this week, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said: “He is still our player. He has contracted us. We have checked to a certain extent what the next one is for him.

“I would like to believe that all the possibilities are still available to us. My wish is that it will stay, but that is not in my full control. My wish is that he will stay and we will see him playing again next year.”

Isak has left for his contract for three years and Howe added that he had not yet spoken with club heads about the situation. “No, I didn't do that. Especially for the fact that I am traveling and today we worked on the training this afternoon,” he said.

“With these journeys they are always so intense. Of course I have contact with the people I have to have contact at home at home, but it is a very minimal contact when you are gone.

“It is an important time for us. There is a lot to take. We have to bring in the right type of player. We do not have to act out of character in any way and work how we always have in the window.

“That is in a strategic way. If the right player is not available for us for the right price, then we cannot do the deals. Everything must fall in line.

“We want to add depth and quality to the areas we have identified. We can get fingers crossed deals.”
