Newcastle -striker Alexander Isak is strongly connected to a move from St James' Park and former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet has urged the blues to sign him
Alexander Isak has been encouraged to become a member of Chelsea this summer, with the former Premier League star Gus Poyet who suggests that he would be a “good fit” at Stamford Bridge. Isak is currently one of the most much -needed players in world football, after he played for Newcastle for Newcastle in 2022.
The 25-year-old has scored 59 goals in 103 games for The Toon and the will of Arsenal and Liverpool are all connected to the striker. However, Poyet believes that Isak should come to Chelsea instead.
“I would like to see Alexander Isak in Chelsea,” the midfielder of ex-Chelsea told Discasino. “I know him from his time at Real Sociedad and I know his characteristics, movement and technical skills, and I think he would fit well with Chelsea.
“I also think Nicolas Jackson needs competition in advance – if you want to be the number 9 at Chelsea, you should be better than how he is currently performing.
'Sometimes to get better, you need more a challenge – it's not approved with Christopher Nunku, so Jackson needs someone else to try to push him. Isak can be that player. “
However, Newcastle remains determined to hold their star striker and a blockbuster range is needed to even seduce them to sell, with Isak still under contract until June 2028.
And Newcastle -Baas Eddie Howe is convinced that Isak will still be in St James' Park next season. “He had a brilliant few seasons for us and he looks like he's hitting his best rhythm,” said Howe in December.
“He is such a valuable player for us. When I signed him, I looked his game in deeply at his game. With Alex, his all-round game, I felt that he could do a little bit of everything to connect play, a creative link between our midfield and our attack, but also those striking qualities, where he can make something out of nothing.
‌ “He had, from that one season in which he scored an enormous amount of goals in Laliga – who is not easy to do at such a young age. I believed that he had the bravery to deliver that in the Premier League, although there is always a light question mark with the physicality of this competition.
“And there I have to give him a huge compliment because he has taken that step of the different competitions in which he has been to come to the Premier League. I think he did very well, he has taken almost everything in his pass.
“We would not have committed the compensation that we made to the transfer if we did not believe he could play and do it well. Now he has done that and he deserves a lot of praise for it not easy to transfer competitions in the way he has, and I only hope it is a start for him.
“The challenge for the team is to be successful. With a successful team, everything across the board is easier in every way. The challenge for me is to push the team to those heights.”
