Alexander Volkanovski joins Georges St-Pierre in exclusive group of fighters following title UFC 314 win

Alexander Volkanovski wrote UFC history on Saturday evening at UFC 314 and became the first hunter of more than 35 years old who won a title in weight classes 155 pounds and lower.

After back-to-back knockout losing for Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria, UFC fans feared that the time of Alexander Volkanovski could be over at the top of the sport.

Nevertheless, on UFC 314 on Saturday in Miami, Volkanovski turned back the clock and set up a vintage version, and became a double UFC-Fedegewain champion after beating Diego Lopes.

The 35-year-old had to overcome adversity again when he was brought down early in the fight and even lost his eyes in the later rounds.

Alexander Volkanovski joined the exclusive group of hunters with UFC 314 Win

'The Great' Volkanovski is now only one title profit from Jose Aldo's record of eight title profits in the Federweight Division, and remains closer to being considered the greatest featherweight of all time.

And with his victory over the hard Brazilian over UFC 314, Volkanovski joined an exclusive list of hunters to have lost their title via TKO/KO losses to recover their title.

There were previously nine hunters on the list to complete the performance, including the aforementioned Aldo, Georges St-Pierre, Israel Adesanya and more.

St-Pierre, which is generally considered one of the greatest hunters of all time, shocked his title to huge underdog, Matt Serra, before he received revenge a year later in 2008.

Adesanya came on the list after scoring a brutal Ko victory on Alex Pereira to reclaim his middleweight title after he had lost him in 2022.

Heavyweights, Stipe Miocic and Cain Velasquez also make the list, while Rose Namajunas, Zhang Weili and Carla Esparza represent the female divisions on the list.

With the victory of Alexander Volkanovski over UFC 314, there are now 10 champions who lost their title via KO/TKO and the belt would reclaim.

The next title defense of Alexander Volkanovski could already be set up

Immediately after his emotional victory over Lopes, Volkanovski was called by Movsar Evloev, who was unbeaten on 19-0.

Before UFC 314 both Volkanovski and Lopes agreed that Evloev is probably the next time to fight for the title, but the Australian has worried with his update on how quickly he would return to fight the Russian.

With the record of Aldo, however, just at the moving distance, the 35-year-old wants to defend the title twice before the end of 2025, so that the year may be terminated as the greatest feather-weight hunter of all time.
