The UFC returns to the T-Mobile Arena on March 8 for the first Las Vegas PPV of 2025 with a familiar face in the main event.
Alex Pereira reached new heights in 2024 when the light heavyweight champion yielded three title defenses in a devastating way and was an incredible asset for the promotion.
During his show-stealing title line, however, there was an incredibly vocal competition with Magomed Ankalaev who repeatedly called Pereira.
Ankalaev, in less than ideal circumstances, will finally get his chance on Pereira this Saturday night at UFC 313 and he is convinced that he can prove himself as the best in the world.
Although the Co-Main event may have experienced some changes with Rafael Fiziev who stepped in to face Justin Gaethje, the main event has been one of the most expected matchups for some time.
Alexander Volkanovski predicts Alex Pereira to win via Knock -out before the championship rounds
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Alexander Volkanovski gave his opinion about the fights that come up this weekend from the Fight Capital of the World.
'The Great', which will return to the UFC 314 main event next month, believes that, despite what the challenger has said about his game plan in the structure, Magomed Ankalaev will look to struggle in this fight.
There are many predictions whether the challenger will choose to stand and beat with Alex Pereira or not, what a dangerous game is that Ankalaev seems to play.
Although the Russian apparently would have an advantage in the gripping fairs, he made it a point that he will eliminate his opponent on March 8.
With that in mind, the former UFC champion featherweight believes that 'Patan' is just too powerful and too cunning, because he predicted a knockout within three rounds for the Brazilian.
'[Alex Pereira’s] Very dangerous because he exerts the pressure and he can harden things and put things offensive and then put on the counter, whole, very, very well on the counter. Hard, hard fight for Ankalaev to stay on the feet. [Ankalaev’s] I want to take it down, he will try to get it down, he can get Takedowns.
“I don't see him being able to submit Pereira unless Pereira gives something in his process to build … I go with a favorite on this, Alex Pereira, Ko. I'm going with KO/TKO. I think it is always a fairly safe gamble with him … I don't think they will be early rounds. I may think that second or third round of TKO. “
What is the next step for Alexander Volkanovski?
Fight fans do not have to wait long before it is other people who give their choices for an Alexander Volkanovski fight with the former champion who will be back in action next month.
It is more than a year since he lost the featherweight title to Ilia Topuria on UFC 298 in February, but with 'El Matador' a weight class up before a rematch could take place, 'The Great' continues.
Volkanovski will now be confronted with rising Brazilian Diego Lopes for the interim title in the main event of UFC 314 in the Kaseya Center in Miami on 12 April.
While Lopes is driving a five-fighter win racing, the 36-year-old veteran will look back from bouncing successive knockouts to resume his place at the top of the division.
