Aljamain Sterling disagrees with Dana White’s pound-for-pound U-turn after UFC 311

Aljamain Sterling and Dana White are on completely different pages when it comes to who is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

It appears that while the main event of UFC 311 may have done enough to change the businessman's mind, it didn't have any particular impact on the former bantamweight world champion.

Aljamain Sterling thinks Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound number one over Islam Makhachev

On Saturday night, Islam Makhachev put in a sensational performance against Renato Moicano, finishing the Brazilian with a brutal Brabo choke in the opening round.

The display was so impressive that Dana White eventually admitted that the Russian is the rightful pound-for-pound king over Jon Jones.

While many are now convinced that Makhachev stands alone at the top of the MMA mountain, not everyone is convinced.

Aljamain Sterling is still convinced that no one is better than 'Bones'.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, the former world champion exclaimed: “My number one pound-for-pound, I feel like it has to be Jon Jones. He fights guys his weight. He cleaned the house.

“My definition of pound-for-pound is that if weight were not a factor, your overall ability could beat anyone based on the skills you possess. I think he would be that guy.

He then claimed that his top five consists of Jon Jones, Islam Makhachev, Merab Dvalishvili and Alex Pereira, with Belal Muhammad just edging out Ilia Topuria to claim fifth place.

Dana White and Daniel Cormier disagree on a major issue in the aftermath of the UFC 311 Main Event

While the pound-for-pound debate continues, that topic wasn't the only one on which the UFC CEO disagreed with a former champion.

Following the main event of UFC 311, attention quickly shifted to which fighter Makhachev should face next.

And it's fair to say that White and Daniel Cormier had very different opinions on the matter.
