All the trophies Messi can win in 2025

The Argentinian will look to add to Inter Miami's growing silverware collection in the new year. Let's take a look at the competitions he will play in.

No player on earth or in the history of football has won as much as Lionel Messi in the game. He is the most decorated player of all time and has won virtually every honor in club football with Barcelona. PSG and Inter Miami and internationally with Argentina.

The most recent additions to his collection were the Supporters Shield with Inter Miami and another Copa América with the Albiceleste – both in 2024.

How many titles does Messi aspire to in 2025?

There aren't many omissions from Messi's roll of fame, but there are a few. Starting with the MLS Cup title, which should be high on his list of priorities. The league title was not an option in his first season and Inter Miami were eliminated in the first round from last season's play-offs, losing to Atlanta United.

The goal is to continue next season. The 2025 MLS regular season kicks off on Saturday, February 22 with Inter Miami on opening day at New York City FC. No dates have been confirmed for the playoffs yet, but since the regular season ends on October 18, the postseason is likely scheduled for the following weekend (October 25).

Messi has the chance to win as many as five trophies in 2025 – all with Inter Miami and some he has never won. Let's look at them in chronological order.

Inter Miami will be involved in three tournaments over the summer. The first is the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The Herons will meet Sporting Kansas City in the first round over two legs (February 18 and 25), with the winners meeting Jamaica's Cavalier in the round of 16. The final will be played on June 1.

Miami will be keen to do well after being knocked out in the quarter-finals of this year's edition by Monterrey, who missed Messi due to injury.

Next up is the new, expanded Club World Cup, featuring 32 teams in a tournament running from June 14 to July 13. Inter Miami have ended up in Group A along with Porto, Palmeiras and Al Ahly, with the top two teams advancing to the Last 16, where possible rivals include PSG, Atlético Madrid, Botafogo and the Seattle Sounders. The 2025 Club World Cup is perhaps the most important competition in which Messi and Co. will participate next year, and by far the most difficult to win. The final will be played on July 13 at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford.

Just a few weeks after the Club World Cup concludes, Inter Miami begins their Leagues Cup campaign. The tournament, which pits MLS teams against teams from Mexico's Liga MX, kicks off on July 29 and runs through August 31. The full competition calendar will be announced in the new year.

The Leagues Cup was the first trophy won by Messi's Miami in 2023.

No major tournaments for Argentina

At international level, Messi will be busy with Argentina in 2025, but mainly with the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as there are no major tournaments in which the team is involved next year. Argentina has qualifying matches against Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.

By the end of the year, there are two more trophies that Inter Miami wants to win. The Supporters Shield goes to the team with the most points during the MLS regular season campaign. Miami won it for the first time this year and finished the regular season with a record 74 points.

This will be followed by the postseason, culminating in the MLS Cup, which will likely be played in early December, although no dates have been confirmed.

During his professional career, Messi has won a total of 45 trophies. He has a chance to reach his half-century in 2025, although that may be too much to ask.
