Bayer Leverkusen was simply not on the task because they had not flattened the Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, says Xabi Alonso.
Leverkusen was held on Saturday to a 0-0 draw by Union Berlin.
Despite the fact that he had enjoyed possession in the first half of 76.4% of the property, the dominance of Leverkusen only yielded one shot on goal.
Jonathan Tah missed a great chance in the stopping time, but Leverkusen eventually only collected 0.55 expected goals of their 16 attempts.
The draw left them five points back from Bayern, who then spread their lead on top to the top to six points by pulling 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund.

With five more games, the chances are stacked against Leverkusen when it comes to retaining their crown.
“It was just not good enough for us. We missed energy, especially in the last third of the field,” said Alonso.
“We have not made any opportunities.”
Leverkusen only has a 2.7% chance of winning the title, according to Opta's supercomputer, but Alonso did not give up hope.
“It [the title race] Is not ready yet and we have to continue.
“We had a chance today and missed it. The feeling is not euphoric. We have to accept it.”
On Saturday, however, the place of Leverkusen in the Champions League of Leverkusen has guaranteed.
