Alonso dodges questions on future of Rodrygo – ‘We will have a conversation’

The new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso refused to explain whether or not Rodrygo Goes was part of his plans for the future, in the midst of heavy speculation that he was on his way to the club. The Brazilian star has not been seen in Los Blancos in the past month and it has been suggested that Alonso will try to base his silk on Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

That was also the case under Carlo Ancelotti, but Rodrygo first became on the side on the right of a front three, and then later on the right of midfield. Unlike when Karim Benzema was in the side, Rodrygo struggled for his best form. Regarding his plans for the front line, Alonso remained free from formations.

“Football is dynamic. I want us to interpret and play for the players where they are most comfortable, where they can best demonstrate their physical, tactical and mental qualities … the good thing is that good players have. Then that is my problem (laughs).”

Before his exit was confirmed, it was reported that Alonso had agreed to veteran star Luka Modric who expanded his stay. One of the first questions that Alonso was asked was whether he had given the green light before Modric's departure.

“I am not very objective about Luka because we were teammates, and when he arrived, we had a chemistry. He became the conductor of the orchestra; he was a big legend. It was proud for a while to see his farewell. I was a while ago. I was a while ago.

More generally, however, Alonso generally said that he reached a consensus with the club on transfers.

“Things have been agreed and discussed. There are things that worry me and things that don't, but that will be the boundary. I officially work to make decisions and decide things.”

After he had given non -binding answers about how his attack would prepare, Alonso was then immediately asked about the future of Rodrygo. Again he spoke in general terms.

“Rodrygo is a real Madrid player, and I will have a conversation with him. Just like I will speak to everyone who is a real Madrid player. They deserve it and we need them. Rodrygo is a spectacular player, I don't break new, but we need him.”

With Modric further and the absence of Toni Kroos is still being felt, one of the primary goals for Real Madrid seems like a central midfielder this summer. Alonso was vague in the same way.

“Our duty is to always want to improve. That is why, because I have been Madrid's manager, I want this communication and vision with the club to agree on how we want to improve. The team is very good and I want to work with them. I am happy to work with this as a team and improve.”
