Xabi Alonso is not impressed by Bayern Munich who opens an eight-pointed lead on Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race, prior to their huge head-to-head collision next week.
Reigning Champions Leverkusen lost ground on Saturday on Bayern, while the previous day they wanted to respond to the 3-0 triumph of the leaders about Werder Bremen.
Leverkusen-Die started with Star midfielder Florian Wirtz on the couch after he needed extra time to beat Koln in the DFB-Pokal earlier this week, held a frustrating aimless draw in Wolfsburg.
But Alonso does not believe that their bid for back-to-back titles is over, especially with Bayern who will visit the Bayara next Saturday.
“Things remain the same for us,” said Alonso. “Next week we will play at home against Bayern. There is this eight -pointed gap in the table, but we focus on what we can achieve.
“We have a little time to recover after four weeks with three games a week. I don't think too much about those eight points.
“If we beat Bayern, they are five points. We play at home, with our fans and with good energy. We have all week to train.”

Despite the draw, Alonso was the same as the late coach Udo Lattek's all-time competition record of 27 consecutive road without defeat, which settled between 1985 and 1992.
In the meantime, the decision to bench Wirtz – who missed a big chance in the dying moments – interviewed by some fans, but Alonso said he had no choice after his midweek exploits.
“It is easy to analyze things after the game, but Florian's efforts after 120 minutes was great,” said Alonso.
“But he still came close with that last chance today.”
