The Bayern Munich left back is on the sidelines after suffering an injury during last night's 3-0 defeat to Feyenoord.
As if the 3-0 Champions League defeat to Feyenoord on Wednesday wasn't painful enough for Bayern Munich, things got even worse for the Bundesliga giants this morning as they licked their wounds.
Details emerged about the severity of Alphonso Davies' injury. The Canadian fullback was replaced at half-time with Raphaël Guerreiro coming on in his place.
Medical tests carried out this morning have confirmed a muscle strain that will sideline the defender for the coming weeks. “Alphonso Davies suffered a left hamstring sprain during last night's Champions League match against Feyenoord in Rotterdam,” a club statement said.
How long will Davies be out?
The medical staff expects the 24-year-old full-back to be out for an estimated two to three weeks. It means that he will not be available for the final group match against Slovan Bratislava next week (January 29).
Bayern are currently 15th with 12 points and given the teams above them in the standings, it is unlikely that the team will automatically qualify for the next round as one of the top eight players.
So realistically, Brian Priske's heading into the play-offs – and Davies will certainly miss the first leg.
The draw for the 2025 Champions League play-offs will take place at 12:00 in Nyon on January 31, 2025. The first legs will be played on February 11 and 12.
