Altafini: AC Milan must replace Conceicao; they need an Italian coach

Altafini insists that Conceicao's approach does not fit the Rossonero and wants to see an Italian in the Dugout in Milan.

He said to Tuttosport: “I respect the important goals that Conceiçao has achieved in Portugal, but in Milan – after they started well with the victory of the Italian Super Cup – the results achieved were negative.

“Coaching Milan is something other than Porto. I don't understand why the club always goes for foreign coaches, while there are so much good among the Italian.

“Among the young people (Roberto) De Zerbi and (Vincenzo) Italiano are very good. I would see them lead a big club as a Milan. The most important thing is that management has a clear project. We can no longer make any mistakes after this season.”

Asked how Milan “can be great again”, Altafini also explained: “Football is simple: you need a keeper who makes it right, a striker who scores, a strong defender and a midfielder who knows how you play, then everything you need for the other players is to run.

“The current Milan is missing (Simon) Kjaer's heir in particular: they must get a high-level center-back that can order the defense and is tough in marking the opponents. In the summer, the priority must be to buy a big defender.”
