The Spain captain Alvaro Morata has admitted that he regretted his departure from Atletico Madrid last summer, after a sudden exit to AC Milan. Only six months later he would be back to the move to Galatasaray in Turkiye.
Morata had assured at the time that he would not leave the Spanish capital after winning Euro 2024 and became a national hero, but a sudden move to San Siro was agreed last summer. During the tournament, however, Morata did admit that if 'Athleti wants to sign ahead, I can imagine that I am not a priority', which indicates his dissatisfaction.
“If you go through difficult times, you don't see things clear, regardless of how many people around you tell you that you are making a mistake,” he told Cadena Ser.
“In the summer I should have thought through things more. It is useless to say so now, but I should have thought more about whether or not to leave Atletico. If you don't feel good at certain levels in your life, you make the wrong decisions. This subject bothered me during the euro. Known he did.”
The 32-year-old says there were people in his life who also advised him not to switch to Galatasaray.
