Ruben Amorim has tried to harm the public row of Andre Onana with Nemanja Matic by claiming that the comments from Manchester United's goalkeeper United about Lyon were removed from the context.
Matic Branded Onana 'one of the worst keepers in the history of Manchester United' after the Cameroon International said in the weekend that Amorim's side is 'much better' than Lyon.
He also shot back on the former United -midfielder Matic by indicating that he has won a trophy in Old Trafford in contrast to the Serbian.
The head coach of United confirmed that Onana will start the quarterfinals on Thursday evening between the two clubs in the Groupama Stadium and tried to mediate between the goalkeeper and Amorim's former Benfica teammate Matic.
Asked about the criticism of Onana, Amorim said: 'It is really difficult, very difficult to deal with it, that's for sure. If you look at all the quotes, you cannot see any lack of respect, but respect it to give trust and show trust in his team, especially this year.
'Everyone can talk bad things about Manchester United. Sometimes our group, as a player, as a group, as a staff, has to show trust in our team, that's all.
'I know Nemanja Matic very well, what a good guy he is. So you hear some things half, not the whole story and that is clear to me in this situation.
'Tomorrow (it) does not matter. I think if you see Andre Onana's full quote, it is very different.
'The first sentence is that Lyon is a very good team, so I think the players or the coaches sometimes don't always listen to the full quote and sometimes it's just a misunderstanding. And I also know Matic, he is a great guy. Tomorrow will be a normal game. '
