Amorim explains why Marcus Rashford shining for Aston Villa is GOOD for Man Utd

Marcus Rashford impresses on loan in Aston Villa and scored his first two goals for the club on Sunday, but Ruben Amorim is not regretted that he will let him leave Manchester United

Ruben Amorim says that the return of Marcus Rashford to form in Aston Villa is good news for Manchester United – but insisted that his only focus is on the players he coaches.

Rashford, on loan in Villa from United until the end of the season, scored his first goals in front of the Unai Emery side with a two-year-old in the 3-0 FA Cup victory on Sunday in Preston.

Amorim was asked about the return from Rashford to Villa and whether that would have an impact on whether the attacker – reminded of England since his loan movement – still had a future at United.

But Amorim remained tight the future of Rashford and would only say that the United players who are doing well on loan is good news for the club, where Villa has an option to buy the 26-year-old for £ 40 million at the end of the loan agreement.

“We have a lot of games to play and I am focused on my team and my players,” said Amorim. “Rashford is not my player at the moment, but every player who performs on loan is good news for our club.”

United Travel on Tuesday to the third Nottingham Forest placed in the Premier League, where Amorim is not surprised at how well his Portuguese countryman Nuno Espirito Santo plays them this season.

In addition to insisting on a Champions League place, Nuno has brought Bos to the FA Cup-Halve Final for the first time since 1991, with Amorim very impressed by what he has done since he took over in the city.

“First of all, I am not surprised,” said Amorim. “I know the work he did in Portugal, in Spain and he was doing really well here at Wolves. Then he went to Tottenham, started really well there, then things happened.

“But I am not surprised. You feel it in the team, the environment they have, the way his team plays, they have energy and mobility, so I am not surprised. He is a tough manager.”

Asked if Forest will play 120 minutes on Saturday, before he would overcome Brighton on penalties, United would benefit, who did not play for two weeks, Amorim said: “I don't know.

“Nuno will say it was better to have more time to prepare for the game and it is long at a good time without games, but they played that cup phase, they won and that is really important to recover players.”
