Manchester United -boss Ruben Amorim has responded to comments from Bruno Fernandes, where the captain of Red Devils calls on the club to make more transfers this summer
Ruben Amorim has insisted that he welcomed Bruno Fernandes' criticism after the Captain of Manchester United claimed that they were “lazy” in their collision for the season with Everton and that they should add “more quality” in the transfer market.
United drew 2-2 with Everton in their last Premier League Summer Series match in the US and although a draw was enough for the Red Devils to win the tournament, Fernandes was not happy with their performance.
United has wasted a lead twice in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, with goals from Fernandes and Mason Mount canceled by a strike by Iliman Ndiaye and its own goal of an Ayden Heaven.
“It has improved, but it is not where we want it to be,” Fernandes said after the game. “It's a game of football, there is always passion there. Whatever happens.
“There was nothing spicy there, it's normal, it is part of the game. It has been positive [the US tour] And it's good to create a bond with the players. We looked a bit lazy today and we have to change that.
“We needed more quality to get everyone a little more and to do more to get into the starting line-up. I think that is what the club and the manager try to do and hopefully we can get one or two players to help with that.”
And to the question of Fernandes' comments, Amorim replied: “I am glad that the players have that feeling. It says they understand the situation. So it's a good feeling.
“It is understanding that everything is ups and downs in this club. We understand that, but I prefer that feeling [the ups] Then the other side. “
In addition to the draw with Everton, Amorim added: “You can perform, I don't want to say badly, but we can struggle a bit in the game, but if you create opportunities, you can even win that kind of game.
“If you play well, they will say that we play very well, something on the other side. It is the same, so we really have to be consistent. We already knew that we had two weeks, this will not change in two weeks, but we are better.
“Even in this game we create opportunities and that is really important. But of course I think it's the perfect feeling to go back to Carrington. I think the momentum of the Tour was perfect.
“So we had the weeks to work with a good environment, a good feeling, and then we go back to Carrington and we are close to the season. We are going to feel that we have to do many things.”
