Amorim has ‘no idea’ when Man Utd will improve

Ruben Amorim says he has “no idea” how long it will take to solve Manchester United's problems after the 2-0 defeat to Wolves.

United went down for the fourth time in their last five Premier League games after goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan, with Bruno Fernandes also sent off for the third time this season to add to their misery.

It was Amorim's fifth defeat in just ten games in charge, making him the first manager to endure such a run in all competitions since Walter Crickmer in January 1932 (losing six of his first ten games).

The 39-year-old admitted he could not give a timetable for when United's fortunes could improve.

“The idea takes time,” said the Portuguese head coach.

“I've said it to you before: This is going to be a difficult moment, and we're nowhere near the end of this moment and that's all.”

When asked how long he thinks it would take for an upturn in performances and form, Amorim said: “I have no idea. No idea. Instead of trying to understand how much time it will take, just day by day .”

United sit 14th in the Premier League but face a tough series with Newcastle United at home before traveling to rivals Liverpool at Anfield and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

The Red Devils have now suffered as many defeats in their last five Premier League games as in their previous fifteen league games (W7 D4). Only Everton and Southampton (both nine) have failed to score in more different games than their seven this season.

“Right now we just have to survive and gain some time to work on the team,” Amorim said.

“We already knew. I start this job and you start with the team, a new idea, without any time to train, with many competitions, tough competitions.

“It's a long journey, as I said on the first day. We have to keep going and we have to fight these bad moments because this is part of football.”
