Manchester United are reportedly open to offers for ALL players in January, with the exception of two players whom Ruben Amorim considers 'untouchable'.
New boss Ruben Amorim has been assessing the squad since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in mid-November, with 12 games under his belt. Amorim has used a total of 25 players across three competitions, with Sunday's mouth-watering third round FA Cup tie against Arsenal providing a big opportunity for players to impress.
Last weekend's encouraging 2-2 draw against Liverpool was a major boost for the Red Devils, ending their run of four consecutive defeats during a nightmarish festive period. Amorim has confirmed that United will 'try to do something' in the January transfer window, but the club must sell before they can buy.
That's why Old Trafford's chiefs would be willing to part with all but two of their stars for the right price.
Summer signing Leny Yoro is the first untouchable, costing United £52 million to sign under former manager Erik ten Hag. The Mail adds that breakout star Amad, who is close to signing a new long-term contract, is the other player for whom United will reject any offer.
It has been suggested that the club would be open to offers for the rest of the squad, but only for the right price. Earlier this year it was reported that Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were deemed unmarketable, but it appears things have changed.
Garnacho, 20, has been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, while Chelsea are said to be the frontrunners if academy product Mainoo becomes available. Amorim recently shed light on United's plans for January, explaining: “If the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something. But I think in the coming weeks we will have more time to train and we can improve, that's the only way.
“We have played many matches without training, now we have more room to grow. You can see that the context is worse at the moment because we have suffered many losses, so we have to keep everything under control.”
As to what positions will be involved, Amorim said: “I will keep that to myself. But we will try to do something.”
Marcus Rashford is likely to be the most high-profile and lucrative sale, with the out-of-favour striker making it clear last month that he is 'ready' for a new challenge. AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and clubs in Saudi Arabia are all interested in his services, both on loan and on a permanent basis.
