On Thursday, Manchester United sent the official yearbook of 2024/25 from the club to members and seasonal card holders. In his preface, head coach Rúben Amorim thought about his first months that was in charge and shared his ambitions for the coming season.
“For everyone associated with football – players, staff and fans – the start of a new season is a time of excitement and optimism, and a moment to look forward to,” Amorim wrote. “We should not completely forget or ignore what happened last season, because we can learn valuable lessons from the difficult moments and get inspiration from the positive ones that we potentially reminded us to get better.”
Thinking about the challenges of last season, he admitted that the club has endured a lot of “disappointment and pain” as part of a process to transform its activities. However, he believes that those experiences brought the team in a stronger position on the way to 2024/25.
“Thanks to everything I have learned in the past eight months and the understanding of the players of my expectations, we are now in a much better place than if I was only connected this summer,” he added.
Amorim also spoke passionately about the identity of the club and his fan base:
“One of the most important things I have learned is how magical this football club is, and how special his fans are. I feel a great sense of responsibility to reduce Manchester United where it belongs. As I said in the field at Old Trafford after our last game of last season, I strongly believe that there are much better days.
