Ruben Amorim does not believe that he will be offered at the same time to change the fortunes of Manchester United that Mikel Arteta was given in Arsenal.
The Spaniard replaced Unai Emery in the Arsenal Dugout in December 2019, and although he won the 2020 FA Cup in his first season – the only trophy of the Gunners among him – they initially struggled in the competition and took three campaigns to qualify for the Champions League.
Arsenal was the eighth and fifth in the Premier League in their first two full seasons under Arteta, but are now regular title challenges, which have ended as second in Manchester City in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Arsenal, who are currently 13 points behind the Liverpool leaders, seems to end up in second place in the Premier League.
Arteta will take the lead for his 200th Premier League match against United on Sunday, but Amorim does not expect to receive the same patience from his bosses.
“I will not have the time that Arteta had,” Amorim told reporters on Friday.
“I feel that. It's another club. I think it's another club.
“I think in that aspect the way Arteta dealt with, is an inspiration for everyone, but I will not have the time as Arteta had.”
United has passed a miserable season, in 14th place in the Premier League table and only won five of the 16 league games since Amorim took the lead in November, three drawing and eight losses.
They only get a 5% chance of ending this season in the upper half by the OPTA Supercomputer, and usually end up 15th in the season simulations (22.5%).
In the meantime, Casemiro says that it is “too fast” to discuss his United Future, with just over a year about his current deal.
The Brazilian, whose contract runs until June 2026, has demolished the pecking order in Old Trafford since the arrival of Amorim and is connected to a move throughout the season.
Since November 11, when Amorim took the lead over United, Casemiro has only made seven Premier League performances, starting with seven of those competitions, but has only managed 387 minutes.
“It's too early to talk about next season, but of course I have another year of [my] Contract and then an option, “he said.” We have important competitions and on Sunday we have Arsenal.
“It's too early to talk about next season. I am here, I am available, with totally happiness, and I am ready for the coach and the club. As everyone knows, I am a big character for the club.
“Of course I want to play, I want more minutes, but the coach is the one who makes the decisions, and I have a lot of respect for him and for the club.”
