Manchester United has enough to improve and needs more pace in their midfield, said Ruben Amorim manager said after the Premier League side started their preparations for the season with a scoreless draw against Leeds United.
United had their worst Premier League campaign ever in the 2024/25 season, finished 15th in the rankings and also failed to qualify for the Champions League because they lost the Europa League final at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Old Trafford side was able to impress on Saturday in the 0-0 draw with newly promoted Leeds in Stockholm, despite the recording of new signing Matheus Cunha in the starting line-up.
“We ago when we tried to press high, they kick the ball, win the second ball and they were a danger at the time,” Amorim told Mutv.
“We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park, and you can feel it, (so) that is difficult to bring the ball (ahead). But we have created opportunities. We have a lot to do, but it was a first test against a Premier League team, with two different teams, so it was a good test …
“As a group we have much to improve, the speed of the game, all the details, so yes, we are going to improve.”
United Play Next West Ham United at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on July 26.
