New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is ready to sell Antony in the January transfer window.
Antony was a major £86million signing under former boss Erik ten Hag, who was keen to reunite with the winger after working with him at Ajax. However, the Brazilian has failed to make much of an impression at Old Trafford.
In 87 games in all competitions, Antony scored just twelve goals and provided five assists. And according to a report from the Daily Star, United are willing to listen to offers for Antony in January.
The report states that United are keen to offload the 24-year-old and are willing to sell or loan him out, with Amorim keen to bring in teenage partner Geovany Quenda from Sporting to replace him.
However, United will not sanction a transfer for Quenda until next summer as Amorim is a big fan of the youngster after handing him his debut for Sporting. The report adds that Amorim believes Quenda is 'more than capable of being a major success at United'.
Antony, meanwhile, could benefit from a fresh start away from Manchester after falling down the pecking order this season. He has made just five appearances in all competitions so far, with Ten Hag reportedly sidelining him due to his attitude in training and concerns that he had become a disruptive influence.
When asked about Antony's lack of playing time in September, Ten Hag said: “He's fighting, fighting for his position. That's what we expect from every player in the squad at Manchester United, which they should do.”
“Of course he's impatient. He wants to play and he fights to play. That's professional football, that's top football. Those are the laws. You choose the team that you think has the best chance of winning a match .The players have to fight for their positions.
“You choose the eleven who have the best dynamics and the best chemistry. So he has to earn the right to training, but the others are doing very well. He has to get over them. Now he has to bounce back and he has the capabilities.” to do it, if he does the right thing, he can compete with them.”
