Royal Antwerp -goalkeeper Senne Lammens has spoken about the interest of Manchester United to sign him.
It appeared in December that United Lammens kept an eye on, after he sent scouts to Belgium to see him in action. Ruben Amorim would consider taking the 22-year-old next summer a step to offer more competition in goal.
And Lammens has now broken his silence about the potential of moving to Old Trafford, and told Belgian Outlet Gazet of Antwerp: “Wow, [it’s] Hard to say. I only played one full season at Antwerp.
“If something comes by that I can hardly say no to it and that will benefit the club, I will have to think about it seriously. But if I am the first depositary here for another year, that's no problem.”
Lammens admitted that it felt “special” to be on the Radar of United and revealed that he was monitoring their performances this season. “The first time I heard it, I thought.” Wow, a world team that you follow. That's special, “he continued.
“Of course I was also talked about a lot and when I made training for training, it was united, united that. Funny, I would also do it the other way around. But you can't think about it too long.
“They are still only rumors. Those top clubs have so many scouts and follow so many players. So it doesn't mean anything. It will only become clear in the summer whether something will come.
“But of course it is only positive. Especially since it is the best competition in the world and my profile – my shape and way of playing – looks like English football. You have to hold on to physically and that suits me.
“You follow the teams that follow you a little, but it's not like I'm watching whole competitions. Summaries are enough.” Lammens has become the first-choice keeper of Antwerp this season and has Jean Butez who came to Cesc Fabregas' Como in January.
So far this season Lammens has held five clean sheets in 33 performances in all competitions and Antwerp is currently fifth in the Belgian Pro League, which means that they are in line to qualify for the play-offs of the Champions.
