Ruben Amorim expressed his joy for hero Mason Mount with two goals when Manchester United took their place in the Europa League final with a 4-1 triumph over Athletic Bilbao.
The excellent first half opener of Mikel Jauregizar had athletic dreams of a comeback in the semi -final second stage in Old Trafford.
But Mount, whose injury problems in Old Trafford are well documented, scored twice on both sides of Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund to conquer a 7-1 aggregated triumph and a date in the final in San Mames with Tottenham on 21 May.
Mount therefore scored his very first brace in the European competition and his first such goals since the nets for Chelsea against Real Madrid in the Champions League in April 2022, while three of his five European goals have entered semi -final.
Speaking with TNT Sports after the game, Amorim said about Mount: “I am so happy for him. He is such a player. He works very hard, he has quality.
“I really like Kobbie Mainoo, just 10 minutes [he played]But everything he did was really good, and sometimes you are on the couch and can change the game.
“If you see that kind of man like Mason working every day, eating good food, having ice baths, if you have players like this, you just want to help him.
“He is perfect for this position because he can be a midfielder, but also when a winger runs, so I am really happy for him.”

United had searched for 70 minutes before the mountain caused the revival.
Amorim, who became the first manager to reach a major European final in his first season to lead an English club since Thomas Tuchel with Chelsea in the Champions League 2020-21, admitted that his side is a work in performance after a difficult season in the interior.
“It is the least that we can do for these fans, for the support they have given us in this tough season,” he added.
“I am already stressed because of the final. If we don't do it, it means nothing, but we are happy to be there, so let's look.
“I know I should be a better manager and the team should be better at the moment, but we are trying. We have done pretty well in Europe, but we are struggling in the Premier League.”
Mount himself acknowledged that this was the best evening he had in a Red Devil's shirt.
“It was too long [waiting for a night like that]. I went on, worked hard every day on training and tried to stay positive, and when I had the opportunity to try to make an impact, “he said.
“Today it paid off, and I came up and influenced the game. It was a tight game when I came up. I just tried to calm it down.
“For me these were my first goals at Old Trafford, a night that I waited for a long time. Back to Bilbao is a special moment and we want to end strong.”
