Rio Ferdinand has told Manchester United to forget the signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and to put their confidence in Wonderkid Chido Obi. Calvert-Lewin, 28, is currently without a club after his contract with Everton expired in June.
The striker is linked to a free transfer to Old Trafford, as well as Newcastle and Leeds, with ambitions to rediscover his best shape and play for England next summer at the World Cup. United has of course already signed a new striker during the summer transfer window and won the race for RB Leipzig Hotshot Benjamin Sesko in a £ 74 million deal.
But unlike Calvert-Lewin, Sesko does not have a Premier League experience and it is speculated that the Red Devils are considering to turn the former EVerton star into a contract offer. It is safe to say that Ferdinand would be against the move because he wants to see the 17-year-old OBI instead.
When it was stated to the former United Defender that Calvert-Lewin could be a target for the Red Devils, Ferdinand replied on his YouTube channel: “Dominic Calvert-Lewin? Where are you talking about, BRUV?
“Calvert-Lewin can't stay fit. No. Why should we take him to this club? This club was built at the academy and we have Chido Obi there.
“Play him if you just need someone for a few games instead of someone who is older and does not stay fit. Look Calvert-Lewin? On what grounds? No, I am sorry, I disagree enormously, I disagree. What message does that send to the rest of the Premier League or more importantly to your team?”
OBI received his debut in February by United Boss Ruben Amorim and appeared five before the end of last season. The DANE came to the fore after scoring an incredible 32 goals in just 18 games for Arsenal's Under-18 Kant before he came to the Red Devils last year for a nominal compensation.
Denmark manager Brian Riemer recently labeled Obi 'amazingly exciting' and tells via Play, as quoted by tipsbladet: “He is now in a place where it is amazingly exciting, but he has to make his breakthrough. That is the next step on which he has to concentrate on: breaking a player united.

Ferdinand's comments come as United to sell Rasmus Hojlund to AC Milan. Hojlund was pushed over the pecking order by the arrival of Sesko, after he had passed two difficult seasons with the Red Devils after his £ 72 million step from Atalanta.
The deal would be worth around £ 40 million, which makes it possible to fund the United company in other areas. Amorim reportedly focuses on a midfielder, with Brighton star Carlos Baleba High on his shortlist.
A keeper can also be signed to offer competition to Andre Onana. Paris Saint-Germain Shot Stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been associated, although Manchester City are the favorites to land his signature and have reportedly agreed personal conditions.
