Amorim urged to make shock Marcus Rashford U-turn – ‘Man Utd need him’

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has urged Ruben Amorim to make a U-turn and bring Marcus Rashford back into the first team.

Rashford has struggled to get game time since Amorim arrived and gave an impressive interview in which he claimed he wanted to leave Old Trafford after becoming frustrated with his progress at his boyhood club.

Despite United being in dismal form after three consecutive defeats without scoring a goal, the England international has not played since beating Viktoria Plzen 2-1 on December 12.

He was left out of four straight matchday squads before being named on the bench for the 2–0 home defeat to Newcastle, although he did not feature as a substitute.

Rashford has made 12 starts in the Premier League this season after being favorite under previous boss Erik ten Hag, but only two of those have come under new boss Amorim.

With United sitting 14th in the Premier League as they prepare for a tough trip to rivals Liverpool, Brown believes Amorim must bring back Rashford to give the team a major boost.

“I want to see Marcus Rashford stay at Manchester United,” he told The Sports Daily. “It's been a difficult time for him, but he's back in the team and I think with a few changes he can be even better. Everything he does gets a lot of publicity. These things happen at all clubs, but people care more because he is a local boy and is always in the spotlight.

“I think the most important thing for Marcus is to keep his head down and, regardless of what happens in the future, to play at his best again. I think United need him in the team and playing well, so hopefully the situation will resolve itself.” .”

Rashford has been linked with a move to Arsenal and even the Saudi Pro League this month, although his huge £325,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block.

Brown believes the solution is for him to stay put and use his experience to help United out of their slump.

“He's a Manchester boy and has done so much for the club in the past. Most players go through tough times but that doesn't mean it can't be solved. United lack his skills and his experience, these things happen in football and hopefully he and the manager can work it out.”
