Amorim warns he is fighting for his job until the summer after tough start

Head coach Ruben Amorim of Manchester United warned: “We are fighting for our job” while he was aligning the attention of the Marcus Rashford Saga that the club had engaged in January.

Rashford left United, who sat down 13th in the Premier League table and had seven defeats in Old Trafford and joined Aston Villa until the end of the season.

During his press conference on Thursday afternoon, prior to the FA Cup on Friday evening, fourth round against Leicester in Old Trafford, Amorim was asked about the conclusion of the deal.

“We are fighting for our jobs until the summer. I only concentrate on these games,” he said.

“Happy about Marcus, he is now in Birmingham, with Unai [Emery] So you can take the questions for these months to another coach.

“We are currently only aimed at our players.

“I knew that when I chose this profession that you had the risk of the results and I already knew when I came here.

“I looked at the schedule, I looked at the team and I understood that my decision to change everything, to make these difficult decisions in the middle of the season – without new signing sessions – is a danger for a coach.

“But since day one, with good results or poor results, I have a clear idea what I want to do and I take these risks because I eventually think it will bear fruit.

“But I am not naive; I have often said that this is a sports sports and that we are in a difficult situation.”

United allowed Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Marcus to leave the club on loan, with young defenders Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu the only income.

The club was close to the signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, but the 19-year-old attacker joined Tottenham instead until the end of the season.

Amorim analyzed the window and, in the idea that United has pain in the short term for a long -term profit.

“What I feel is that the club is taking its time,” he said. “We currently know the urgency of the team, but I think everyone here does not want to make the same mistakes as in the past.

“We have to improve the players we have, win a number of games and then we will see in the summer. We are really careful with transfers because we have made some mistakes in the past.

“It is a time when it is difficult to turn things into a few games. It will be really difficult – until the end of the season.

“We want something different in our team, we want profiles and that is my area, so it was my decision to do that [not make wholesale changes in January].

“We take a few risks, but it is the way we want to continue. We can improve our team. We will have time to train because I always complain about no time to train.

“Now we have time to train, we are going to improve the team, the players. I want a certain type of player, a different profile and we change immediately.”
