Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation CAN be a success

It is not as easy as 3-4-3 for Manchester United.

But there are signs that Ruben Amorim's formation can work – even with nine defeats so far.

Against Tottenham the form was not the problem, it is the decision -making of the players.

United had great opportunities to score and if they had done that, we would talk about the problems of Ange Postecoglou.

The rear three get it and Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and the shape of Noussair Mazraoui was better on Sunday.

Patrick Dorgu was a great positive one, he has been easily lashed into the left wing-back since he came to Lecce at the beginning of the month.

But the will of Alejandro Garnaacho and Bruno Fernandes just didn't give him the ball when he was in position to drive into the area.

The biggest problem is in the central midfield where Fernandes had 105 touches but was constantly dragged to the right by James Maddison, who plays on Spurs' Left.

The 3-4-3 is designed to offer overloads because the wingbacks offer an extra defender/ midfielder/ attacker, so the free man is on the other side for a switch and faith.

Diogo Dalot does not have the legs to go on the right, so United needs a specialized right wing.

Forward Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are not dynamic enough to play in this formation and they missed Amad Diallo.

With the right players, the system works as Amorim showed when his sporty hug in November 4-1 in the Champions League with 4-1 in the Champions League.

But will he get the required players before Sir Jim Ratcliffe no longer has patience?
