It was an open secret that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti would not see the last year of his contract in the Spanish capital and has been a few weeks. After the defeat in El Clasico, and what many feel is the definitive end of the La Liga title race, the pieces are set up for the exit of his Ancelotti from the Santiago Bernabeu.
After consistent rumors that Los Blancos could continue all season from Ancelotti, it seemed that writing on the wall was after their Champions League elimination against Arsenal, and there was already reporting about the end of his enchantment at the club for the Copa del Rey final at the end of April.
After last week when it was reported that Ancelotti and Los Blancos had reached an exit agreement, several sources reported this Monday that a deal was closed with the Italian to take over the Brazilian job. That was confirmed by the Confederation of Brazilian football (CBF) on Monday afternoon.
President Ednaldo Rodrigues published a statement about Brazil's official social media and called Ancelotti the greatest coach in history.
“Taking Carlo Ancelotti to Leiden Brazil is more than a strategic move. It is a statement to the world that we are determined to reclaim the first place on stage. He is the biggest coach in history and now he leads the largest national team in the world. Together we will write new glorious football,” Rodigues said.
