Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shown on numerous occasions that he is capable of surviving even the toughest corners at the highest level of football. The Italian coach is desperate to prove his doubters wrong and now more than ever feels that the coverage of him and his team is overly negative.
Ancelotti celebrated with great energy every time his side scored against Las Palmas this weekend, breaking from his calm demeanor which was taken as a sign of letting go after another tense week this season. According to Cadena SER, Ancelotti is more motivated to prove himself than ten years ago.
He believes that the 'buzz' and 'pessimism' surrounding Real Madrid are exaggerated, and he doesn't understand it. Ancelotti believes this does not reflect the results, and said as much this weekend. Yet he is concerned that some of that pessimism comes from within the club. Onda Cero also reported on Monday that Ancelotti had decided to leave the club at the end of the season, something GdS's Filippo Ricci quickly denied.
Another point that has wrong-footed Ancelotti is the evaluation of his work. He believes his management has been crucial in ensuring Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe can play together, while the form of Rodrygo Goes, Jude Bellingham and Dani Ceballos is further evidence of his work. The downside is the constant speculation about playing time for Endrick Felipe and Arda Guler. The teenage pair stood on the edge of the touchline, something Ancelotti was often criticized for.
Ancelotti is certainly one of the most balanced managers in top-flight football, but this season he has been much more forceful in his press conferences. That is a natural consequence of Los Blancos going through periods of pressure, but Ancelotti has also leveled criticism that he believes went too far. Despite being top of La Liga, Real Madrid is unsurprisingly facing a setback for some time after two heavy defeats to Barcelona.
