Ancelotti tired of speculation on Vinicius’ Real Madrid future

Carlo Ancelotti says he is fed up with questions about the Real Madrid -Follow -up of Vinicius Junior and wants to concentrate on the performances of the Brazilian instead.

Vinicius is close to signing a new contract with Madrid according to reports earlier this week, but he was also associated with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The current contract of the attacker runs until 2027 and in 2024-25 he again proved an essential part of the Ancelotti team.

He scored eight goals in LaLiga this period, with only Kylian Mbappe (16) more, while he also contributed five assists. The 34 chances of Vinicius are also on a second best among his teammates (Rodyrgo-43), with nine of those counted as 'big' opportunities.

Prior to their journey to Osasuna in Laliga on Saturday, the most important focus of the Ancelotti press conference was again whether Vinicius would make a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

“So many questions. Am I tired of this topic? Yes. Am I worried? No. Do I see him happy? Yes, “Ancelotti told reporters.

“We are happy with him, there is nothing more to add than what I added a week or two weeks ago. We are not talking about this subject here, he doesn't talk about it either.

“I see him as the same old Vinicius, with a lot of desire to do things right. He did very well in the last game.”

The last match was a 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Tuesday in the first stage of the Champions League play-off to reach the last 16, where Vinicius was a player of the game.

Vinicius had been the target of a banner who showed city midfielder Rodri with the balloon d'Or trophy with the caption, “stop crying” in reference to the 24-year-old he believed he should have won the prize.

“I see him very motivated, especially because of what he did in the match against City, where he was very busy and he ended this pressure very well, a difference in the game,” added Ancelotti.

“Whether he has received an offer or not, I can tell you what I see here, a happy player who wants to do things well and write history with this club.”

Madrid is currently top of the LaLiga classification, but Atletico Madrid is only one point behind, with Barcelona one point back.

Los Blancos has dropped points in their last two league matches, a drawing and one lost, and has not won three or more games on one campaign since November 2020 in a single campaign under Zinedine Zidane (D1 L2).

However, Osasuna could prove the perfect opponents for Madrid, who have not lost any of their last nine away against them in Laliga (W6 D3). They also won each of their last four league matches against them.

Ancelotti wants to see his side continue with the shape they have shown against City.

“We are well motivated and it is an opportunity to keep the lead, what our goal is,” the manager said.

“Of course it will be a difficult game, but we did well in the last game and I think we should confirm it.

“It is a game where we have to repeat all the good things that we have done in the game against City.”
