Andre Onana dropped for Man United’s clash against Newcastle with flop keeper left at home after Lyon disasterclass

Ruben Amorim has taken keeper Andre Onana from the shooting line for the journey from Manchester United to Newcastle today.

The Cameroon International remained back in the northwest when the team traveled to Tyneside on Saturday evening.

His Axing comes after Sunsport exclusively revealed that some teammates wanted to close him after the Europa League blunders on Thursday against Lyon.

But the manager has been told that he will be rested and will be back in the team for the return bone against the French giants next Thursday.

And Onana – who ended a nightmare in the first stage in France last week – is supposed to be in accordance with the decision.

It means that Turkish Understudy Altay Bayindir will probably make his prem -debut in the game in St James' Park.

Amorim has decided to give Onana, 29, a few days to remove his head after a difficult week.

He was involved in a word war with former Red Devils midfielder Nemanja Matic in the structure of the Europa League equal game.

The Serbian took the exception to Onanan's claim that United is better than Lyon – and called him 'one of the worst keepers in the history of the club'

With all the eyes of him at the Groupama stage, Onana made two blunders to give the Paulo Fonseca team a draw and to keep them very much in the draw.

They were the last in a long series of errors through the former Inter -goalkeeper during his two years in England.

It has also not been easy for him. His wife, Melanie, was recently the victim of a violent street robbery in Alderley Edge.

That left the family who needed 24 -hour protection in their Cheshire house -but he continued to play despite the test.

Bayindir only returned to the United Squad 12 days ago for the trip to Nottingham Forest after missing nine games due to injury.

His previous seven performances have all come in cup competitions, so this is his first taste of competition campaign for United.

Amorim is expected to shake up his goalkeeper options this summer – where Bayindir may be sold to make way for a new arrival.

Veteran No3 Tom Heaton no longer has a contract, but a coaching role can be offered in the recognition of his long association for the club.

Newcastle will be without manager Eddie Howe for the visit of United.

Howe was admitted to hospital late on Friday “after he felt unwell for a few days.”

A Newcastle statement was: “The Magpies head coach was admitted to the hospital late on Friday evening after he felt unwell for a few days.

“Medical staff kept Eddie in the hospital at night for further tests that are going on.

“He is aware and talks to his family and continues to receive expert medical care.

“Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a quick recovery, and further updates will follow in due course.”
