Former Liverpool -striker Andy Carroll left Bordeaux after a season, looking at it to return home to England to be closer to his children.
The 36-year-old was a favorite with fans in his single campaign in the club after paying off the divisions and taking a huge wage reduction, even revealing that he lost money by playing for them.
Carroll scored 11 goals in 23 games last season when Bordeaux celebrated in National 2, the fourth division of France.
It was the second season in France after getting four times in 35 performances for the second layer of Amiens the previous season.
Bordeaux confirmed on Friday that the former international had left in England to return home and be closer to his five children.
The six-time Ligue 1 champions have issued a flowing statement that thank him for his 'generous personality' and for 'total bet'.
“FC Girondins de Bordeaux would like to thank Andy Carroll for his time in the club this season,” they said.
'Arriving last summer with the desire to take on a new challenge, Andy did not hesitate to join the Gironde to try the Bordeaux adventure, with total deployment of his first days.
'On the field, the English striker scored 11 goals in 21 league matches. But after the statistics, Andy brought his experience, physical impact and professionalism to his role daily, both in the dressing room and during important competitions. Outside the field, he is an exceptional and generous personality that fans and employees of the club enjoyed to work with.
'Today, to be closer to his children, Andy has chosen to return home. We fully understand this personal decision and fully respect.
'Thank you for everything, Andy. You will always be at home here. Safe travel and see you soon! '
Carroll responded with a simple message on the Twitter account of the club and wrote 'Je T'aime [I love you]. '
The next step of the attacker is uncertain, but it is unlikely that he will retire after he admitted that he would continue to play in his forty.
Bordeaux is one of the most successful teams in France, the last winning Ligue 1 in 2009, and has a stadium of 42,000 seats.
But they were forced the division due to serious financial struggle.
They were relegated from Ligue 1 in the 2021/22 season before they were banished last year to the fourth division, after submitting administration and losing their professional license.
Carroll would earn less than € 2,500 (£ 2,140) per month at the Cash Brapped Club-Ver removed from the £ 80,000 a week, he made it to Anfield.
“I actually spend more money to be in Bordeaux than I earn, actually,” Carroll told the Athletic in October. 'My rent is more than what I assume. That is before eating, driving, flying. It was the same when reading, where my apartment was more than my wages. I don't care about the money. '
The ex-Livepool star started his career at Newcastle before earning a switch of £ 35 million to the Reds in 2011.
He played nine times for England and scored on the Euro 2012.
The striker had spells in West Ham, West Brom, read and returned to Newcastle before moving to Amiens in September 2023.
Carroll had three children with ex-partner Billi Muclow during an 11-year relationship with the first The Only Way Is Essex Star.
The 36-year-old also has two children from an earlier relationship.
