Andy Robertson took to social media to joke with Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian put in another top performance for Liverpool as negotiations over a new contract continued.
Salah was man of the match in Liverpool's 5-0 win over West Ham on Sunday. He scored once and assisted two more goals to make even more history. He has now provided 17 goals and 13 assists in just 18 Premier League games for Liverpool this season.
His brilliant form has helped the Reds take control of the Premier League title race, and has also put more pressure on the club. Like Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Salah's current contract expires at the end of June and his future is an unwanted distraction for Liverpool.
It hasn't affected his performances of late and after stealing the show at the London Stadium, Salah took a now signature selfie in the dressing room with some of his teammates. He took a photo with fellow goalscorers Alexander-Arnold, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, prompting a response from Robertson.
“I'll take a picture one day,” the left back joked. Robertson is yet to score for Liverpool in 24 games in all competitions, so he may need Salah to stick around for another season to take a selfie.
It is claimed that both Salah and Van Dijk will sign new two-year deals with Liverpool in the coming weeks to end speculation over their futures. But that hasn't happened yet. Salah gives an update on the situation after the victory over West Ham.
“No, we are still a long way from that,” Salah told Sky Sports when asked if there would be any good news soon. “I don't want to put something out in the media and people start saying things but nothing really [has] I've moved on, but for now I'm focusing on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League.”
He added: “I will do my best to help the team win the trophy. There are a few other teams that are overtaking us and we have to stay focused and humble and keep going. I just try to enjoy the game. Ultimately I came here for the result and I wanted to do something in the match, but I'm almost hungry for more.”
Liverpool are eight points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand after Chelsea suffered back-to-back defeats. They host struggling Manchester United next in the Premier League on January 5, before the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham begins.
