Anelka: You criticised PSG’s stars, and now they’re gone no one is interested.

Is Paris Saint-Germain really better than a year ago? It's a question many have been asking lately, as the club's 'transitional project' gains increasing attention following Les Parisiens' draw against FC Nantes (1-1) and their poor recent performances in the Champions League.

In a broadcast with RMC Sport, former PSG striker Nicolas Anelka pointed the finger at the media about the recent change of course at the capital club. “You (the media) have criticized PSG's stars, but now that they are gone, there are no more TV rights and no one cares anymore.”

“Nothing has really changed, in Ligue 1 you have dominance and then they compete against teams with quality in the Champions League. […] Yes, it is a team without stars, but with some very good players. They're top of the league in Ligue 1, right? So what are you (the media) asking for?”

“They have not yet been eliminated from the Champions League. Anything can happen in three games.”

Anelka was impressed with Luis Enrique's side earlier this season when he spoke to Le Parisien. “PSG plays as a team and everyone does their best. I'm not saying this wasn't the case last year, but I feel a greater collective force.”
