Anfield evacuated ahead of LIV vs Bilbao friendly double-header

The club has issued a statement about the incident

Anfield had to be evacuated, just a few minutes before Liverpool's friendly matches with Athletic Bilbao.

The Reds welcomed the Spanish big boys on Monday in their famous house for a rare double header on the same day.

But stadium staff was forced to perform an emergency evacuation just a few minutes before the first kick -off, which was planned at 5 p.m. because of a false alarm.

Several supporters had already gone on their seats when the alarm sounded and the staff ordered them to leave the ground.

Fortunately, the Kopclub soon revealed that the evacuation was fueled by a false alarm.

A club statement was: “Shortly before 3:50 PM there was a false alarm in the main standard of Anfield, which led to supporters in that area of the stadium to be temporarily evacuated.

“Fans are now getting back in the main standard and there is no expected delay to Ko.

“Thank you for the cooperation of everyone.”

The second consecutive confrontation of Liverpool with Bilbao starts at 8 p.m.
