Van Tottenham is expected to call the changes when they are confronted with Aston Villa on Friday evening, while they will continue to prepare for the seasonal Europe League final next week
Ange Postecoglou acquired angry claims that Tottenham damages the 'integrity' of the Premier League by weakened teams in field fields. On Friday evening, Tottenham travels to Aston Villa in the middle of an injury crisis only five days before their biggest match of years with the Europa League final.
Spurs -Baas Postecoglou made it clear that he will not take unnecessary risks, but Villa pursues a Champions League spot, while Manchester United has a similar dilemma when they go to Chelsea who also compete for a place in the top five.
It means that other clubs in the yacht – Manchester City, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and the like – will watch with great interest at the matches in Villa Park and Stamford Bridge.
But when the word integrity was even raised, Postecoglou bit back and he insisted that he did the best for his club, especially after losing Dejan Kulusevski to a long -lasting knee injury that will keep him for “months”.
Postecoglou said: “We are going outside to try to win the game and bring a team that hopefully that job is right.
“I am not sure about integrity. I think there are teams when we have had to set up weakened teams due to injuries, does that influence integrity?
“People think there is a kind of competitive balance. That does not exist in the course of a season. I would be very surprised if people question our integrity to try to win a football game tomorrow.
“I have set a team that I think it will do its best to win a football match, yes. It has been a constant with us throughout the season. There has been no time that we had a three or four weeks with our strongest line-up.”
Postecoglou also revealed that Kulusevski will come out for months after he has undergone surgery on a knee injury that also sets him out of the Europa League final.
“I am really disappointed for him,” said Postecoglou. “He did so well for us this season and we can't put a time file on it, but it will take months. I am reluctant to go back when he will be back, but it will release him for a few months.”
Postecoglou also rejected suggestions that Lucas Bergvall could be back to face Villa and Timo Werner is out with a hamstring problem. “Lucas has just come out of a boot, he just comes back on the grass, but it's very early for him.”
