After yet another draw last weekend, Thiago Motta says it will be an angry Juventus side preparing for victory at Serie A high-flyers Atalanta.
Torino held Juventus to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, leaving them in a league stalemate for the twelfth time in 19 games under Motta and leaving them fifth in the standings, nine points behind Atalanta.
However, Juve are still unbeaten in Serie A this season despite their run of draws, although they have dropped twelve points from leading positions. In the past two seasons combined, the Bianconeri had dropped just fourteen points when taking the lead (eight in 2023/24 and six in 2022/23).
“We are angry because we did not win the derby, but we are focused on tomorrow's challenge against a team that is doing very well,” Motta told reporters ahead of Tuesday's away match.
“We are the first to be angry. Not being happy is correct, but we have the belief that the work we do is good to achieve victories.
“It will be a great match, very complicated like all other matches. We're facing a team that's better than us. The rankings say that too.
“We go with respect, but we want to play our game to get the result we want, and that is always the win.”
However, Juventus' recent record against Atalanta does not look promising if they want to end that run, as the teams have drawn 10 of their last 15 Serie A matches, including both meetings last season.
However, there are slightly better numbers for Juventus on the road against the Dea, as they have lost just one of their last 19 visits to the Gewiss Stadium (W12 D6).
Juventus have failed to win while without striker Dusan Vlahovic this season, missing Saturday's match with a muscle injury.
Vlahovic has scored five goals in his last four Serie A appearances against Atalanta (two braces for Fiorentina) but is doubtful for Tuesday's trip, while Francisco Conceicao remains out.
“We will evaluate Vlahovic during training this afternoon,” Motta said.
“All players are important. Dusan is an important player for us, there is no doubt about that.”
“When he's there, it counts. We did well when he wasn't there, but we're not satisfied because we didn't get the win.”
