Announcement for new Barcelona signing ‘only a matter of time’

Barcelona has been associated with Jonathan Tah since last summer, when they made a last-minute movement for the German international. It is increasingly looking, because the Catalan capital will indeed be its destination this summer.

The 28-year-old is without a contract in the summer and was also the subject of a long-term chase from Bayern Munich last summer. They would be interested in Tah many months later, with his agent Pini Zahavi stated that “Bayern remains a possibility for this summer.” More recently, Bayern sports director Christoph Freunde explained that Tah was not in their mind at the moment.

That coincides with reports that Tah has decided that he wants to sign for Barcelona. The two parties are reportedly not yet an agreement, but have been in conversation. Now the German transfer insider Christian Falk has explained the daily briefing that there is no chance that Tah will stay at Leverkusen after he has informed them that he will leave.

According to Falk, Bayern will not make a supply, and he describes the move from Tah to Barcelona as 'only a matter of time'.

This does clash with comments from Barcelona's sports director Deco, who noticed that with Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araajo, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez all in the books follow the summer. However, this has not tempered speculation that will continue at least one of Garcia or Christensen, and in particular that Arajo could be set for a large sale in the summer.

Certainly, if Tah arrives, the output of Arajo would be a logical consequence. Both are likely to demand a starting role at this stage of their career, and it seems that Pau Cubarsi is a fixture in the backline for the foreseeable.
