💨 The fastest attacker of the Premier League? 🔴 lewis-skelly's underlepping runs🔎 a player to view this weekend

Speedster Elanga locks in Van de Ven

Anthony Elanga gave a stunning demonstration of his explosive pace against former Club Manchester United on Tuesday, but the run for his goal was not even his fastest sprint in the game. That came 10 minutes later, when he clocked an amazing 36.7 kilometers per hour.

That top speed, registered during another escape from Nottingham Forest, is the entire season as well as the second highest in the Premier League according to Geniusiq tracking data, behind only Micky van de Ven's 37.38 km/h set against the same opponent in September.

The Spurs Center-Back is officially the fastest player in the Premier League, but nobody reaches these types of speeds with the same regularity as Elanga, which this season is good for 15 of the 100 fastest sprints in the division. It is 10 more than any other player.

He threatened to beat the top speed of Van de Ven all campaign and comes close to countless match days before his last attempt against Manchester United. His goal was an example of his ability to also maintain high speeds over long distances.

Although the total distance of the Run of Elanga for the goal is to revise initial estimates up to 71 meters, it is still the longest Carry that leads to a goal in the Premier League this season at 58 meters when measured from the point that he touches for the first time.

The pace of Elanga has become a devastating weapon for a forest side focused on fast and direct attacks and it is nothing new to see him produce to match.

In fact, with 11 goals and 17 assists since he made his switch from Old Trafford to the city at the start of last season, in a deal worth only £ 15 million, his combined total of 28 target contributions places him the top 20 of the Premier League.

It is much more than one of the current harvest of the attackers of Manchester United, it has left it and his heroism against his old side on Tuesday that head coach Ruben Amorim was confronted with uncomfortable questions about the wisdom to let him go, although the decision was taken long before his appointment.

Amorim claimed that there is less pressure on young players at other clubs compared to Manchester United. Maybe there is something in it. But it is little to take care of the forest because they enjoy the contribution of a Jet-Helde-Vleugel player who has proven his point.

Martinelli unlocked by Lewis-Skelly

Bukayo Saka won the headlines with his Goalscoring Comeback in Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Fulham, but their top artist was the winger on the other side. Gabriel Martinelli looked back on his best, founded Saka's goal and tortured Fulham everywhere.

Timothy Castagne would certainly have witnesses that it had had a scorching night against the Brazilian international, repeatedly exposed to the right wing and struggling to cope.

According to Geniusiq, Martinelli's total of 19 was one-on-one in the course of the game his highest the entire season. It enabled him to cause Fulham major problems on their right flank and it had a lot to do with the supporting work of Myles Lewis-Skelly at left back.

Lewis-Skelly found Martinelli with 11 steps in the game, which was most by every player, but his positioning on the inside of Martinelli was the biggest factor to enable him to isolate castagne.

It is not unusual to see Lewis-Skelly of course moving in possession, but usually he does it next to Thomas Peny at no. 6. In this game he pushed up much higher and joined Arsenal's attacking line.

With Issa Diop, the right-sided middle back in Fulham's back three, instructed to have a narrow position in, the goal was for Lewis-Skell to occupy the right-wing central midfielder Sasa Lukic of Fulham, preventing him from doubleing Martinelli with Castagne. He did it by making runs like those below.

At other times, Castagne was the target of the Runs of Lewis-Slly. In the following example, he drags Castagne in, allowing Martinelli to receive the diagonal pass from William Saliba in space and drives from the left touchline to the box.

Lewis-Skelly went in the second half in the second half and created space for Martinelli by bringing the ball forward, as well as via Lokruns. In the image below, such a Carry Lukic and Castagne drags away from Martinelli before he goes to him.

Martinelli clearly enjoyed the space to work in and then earned praise for his performance by Mikel Arteta. “You see how much we missed him, that threat, that attacking goal he has every time he is on the ball,” said the Arsenal manager in his press conference. But it was the smart work of Lewis-Skelly that made it possible.

Player Radar: Who else should keep an eye on

Bournemouth needs a victory at West Ham on Saturday to keep their hope for European qualification alive. Evanilson is probably their best hope to get it. The off-the-ball industry of the striker makes it well suited for the style of Andoni Iraola; Now he also scores regularly, with four goals in his last five games.
