ANTHONY GORDON was left with blood streaming down his face after a collision with Dejan Kulusevski.
In the second half of Tottenham's game against Newcastle, Gordon's face planted itself in Kulusevski's shoulder as he tried to get past his rival.
The Toon winger then fell to the floor in the penalty area.
Gordon, 23, was then seen with blood streaming down his face before medical staff rushed onto the pitch to treat him.
After a brief interruption, play resumed, with the Englishman returning to the fray with a piece of tissue stuffed up his nose to clear up further bleeding.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe had yet to make any substitutions at the time of the incident.
But Gordon was eventually replaced by Harvey Barnes as the Magpies' first sub in the 78th minute.
But fans online were more concerned about Gordon not being awarded a penalty for the Spurs star's apparent foul.
One fan said on social media: “How is it possible that Kulusevski wasn't sent to Gordon for this? He knows exactly what he's doing.”
A second said: “So we had to play with ten men because Kulusevski took Gordon out (and we should have had a penalty).”
A third added: “I'm stunned this isn't a penalty. Gordon beats him and Kulusevski takes him out.”
Another said: “Accidental or not, Kulusevski doesn't get to touch the ball and smashes Gordon. Why isn't that a penalty?!”
Injury-depleted Tottenham took the lead in the fourth minute of the match through Dominic Solanke when he headed home Pedro Porro's cross.
However, Gordon was on hand to level the score just two minutes later as Spurs turned the ball over before Bruno Guimaraes played in his teammate and fired past Brandon Austin into the bottom corner.
Alexander Isak then tapped in the Magpies' second goal in the 38th minute.
Gordon's injury, combined with a host of other stoppages in the second half, led to an incredible 10 minutes of stoppage time.
And despite pressure from Tottenham, Newcastle escaped with a hard-fought three points to a 2-1 victory.
New England manager Thomas Tuchel was also present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, keeping an eye on stars such as Gordon before choosing his first Three Lions squad in March.
