Antonio first words after horror car crash revealed by dog walker who found him

DAZED Prem star Michail Antonio asked a witness who rushed to help after his horror crash: “Where am I? What's going on? What car am I in?”

The 34-year-old West Ham striker was recovering from surgery on a broken leg last night.

He had to be cut loose from his £260,000 Ferrari FF, which was torn to pieces when it crashed into a tree in Theydon Bois, Essex, on Saturday.

Antonio miraculously escaped from his horrific supercar crash.

Witnesses described how the stricken West Ham star was in a very confused state.

The driver's side was torn apart and the impact is believed to have sent Mikhail flying into the passenger seat.

He was trapped in the mangled wreckage for almost an hour before being flown from the scene.

Last night he was recovering from surgery for a lower limb fracture in a London hospital.

Samuel Woods, 34, was driving home after walking his dog in Epping Forest when he saw what he thought was a dumped car on the side of the road.

He stopped and rushed to help when he saw a man inside who looked “in big trouble.”

Samuel, a carer from Regent's Park, told The Sun: 'I said 'hello' to him to see if anyone was still alive.

“I heard sirens and told him help was on the way.

“He was so disoriented. He said, 'Where am I? What's going on? What car am I in?'

“The ambulance crew arrived very quickly. I couldn't believe what happened. The car smelled of gasoline.”

Samuel, who doesn't follow football and didn't recognize the star, continued: “I looked at him and thought: 'He's in big trouble'.

“I just said, 'You've had an accident.' He didn't answer. He looked around trying to understand what I just said. He was sitting on the passenger side.”

Other drivers also reported seeing smoke pouring from the wreckage – near the home of West Ham owner David Sullivan.

A motorist, who passed the scene just minutes after it happened, told The Sun: “I saw the car was a complete mess.

“I think because there was smoke coming out of the car, people were too scared to go there.”

Thousands of fans sent prayers and well wishes after news of the crash emerged.

A West Ham spokesman said yesterday: “Michail has undergone surgery for a lower limb fracture following a road accident on Saturday afternoon. Mikhail will continue to be monitored in hospital in the coming days.

“Everyone at the club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and would like to express their sincere thanks to the football family at large for the overwhelming support since yesterday's news.”

The club also sent a “sincere thank you to the emergency services and medical team who continue to assist him in his recovery.”

Mikhail's ex-wife Debbie traveled from her home in Manchester to his bedside.

Teammates past and present also sent messages of goodwill to the popular star, including Declan Rice, who said: “Thinking of you and your family brother. Prayers for all of you.”

Maxwel Cornet wrote: “With you brother.”

The Ferrari FF was the fastest four-seater car in the world when it was introduced in 2011.

It can reach a speed of 330 km/h and go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

Mikhail crashed a £210,000 Lamborghini into a garden wall on an icy road on Christmas Day 2019.

He joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in 2015 for £7 million and has become the east London club's top scorer, with 68 goals in 268 appearances.

Michail, who also co-hosts the BBC's Footballer's Football podcast with Newcastle's Callum Wilson, was picked for the England squad three times but never played.

In 2021 he switched to Jamaica, where his parents are from, and has won 21 caps.
