Antonio Rudiger: Real Madrid defender banned for six matches for throwing object at referee in Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has received a ban of six games for throwing an object to the referee during their final loss of Copa del Rey for Barcelona.

Rudiger and teammate Lucas Vazquez were shown red cards for their response to an error given against Kylian Mbappe shortly before the last whistle.

The Germany defender has received a suspension of six games “for small violence against the referees”, while Vazquez received a ban from two games for his protests against the officials.

Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea said in his report that Rudiger was fired for “throwing an object from the technical area that missed me”.

Rudiger successfully underwent an operation on a meniscus tear in his left knee on Tuesday and will start with 'his recovery process soon'. The club did not give a timeline for its return, but the recovery is expected to take a few weeks.

The 32-year-old said that the operation was “inevitable” after playing “serious pain”.

The RFEF has withdrawn the red card that was given to midfielder Jude Bellingham for deviating opinions after the last whistle.

The referee's report said that Bellingham “approached our position in an aggressive attitude, had to be stopped by his teammates”, but the RFEF said that real video certificate had supplied that this refuted.

In the meantime, real manager Carlo Ancelotti has received a warning for “making or expressing observations, gestures or objections to civil servants.

“Sorry for the referee and for everyone I disappointed last night.”

The Burgos was demolished in tears on Friday during a press conference after being asked about Real Madrid TV videos who attacked referees.

Real Madrid canceled the media people and the official training session prior to the final after the Burgos interview, but later confirmed that they would still continue with the game.
