Antony fires first league goal in 287 DAYS, equals his MU goal tally this season

The Loan from Manchester United Antony scored his first goal for Real Betis in their 3-2 defeat against Celta Vigo on Saturday afternoon, while the Brazilian winger offers to rebuild his career.

The 24-year-old thought it was a neat finish from the area to open the score in the tenth minute.

His performance earned him his second husband of the Match Award in so many competitions since the landing in southern Spain.

Antony had also reached that award on his debut for Real Betis against Athletic Bilbao.

It was also Antony's first competition goal in 287 days, with his last such strike for United against Burnley on April 27, 2024.

The wing player joined the Laara club for the rest of the season after a gloomy stint of two and a half years at Old Trafford and has already hit the ground in his new environment.

Despite the strike by Antony, Betis was still on a defeat in their LaLiga collision against Celta Vigo while surrendering a lead of two goals.

Fran Beltran got a goal back for Celta Vigo in the 63rd minute, with Javi Rodriguez and then scored the equalizer.

Williot Swedberg scored what the winner turned out to be for Celta Vigo with three minutes of normal time.

Betis is currently in tenth place in Laliga and has so far taken 29 points of their 23 games.

Antony came to United of Ajax in the summer of 2022 for a stunning reimbursement of £ 86 million, but was unable to realize his hefty price tag under Erik ten Hag.

He appeared 96 performances in all competitions, but only scored 12 goals, and after he was overlooked by Ruben Amorim, he got the chance to switch to Sevilla.

With his goal against Celta Vigo, Antony was the same as his goal in the competition with United in the past two seasons in just two games for Betis.

His last goal for United came when he scored in September against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Antony will be determined to enjoy a strong second half of the season with Betis, because he is looking forward to getting his career back on track.

Betis will face Ghent on Thursday in the play-off round of the Europa Conference League.
