Antony releases six-word statement moments after completing Man Utd exit

Antony has sent a six-word message to fans after leaving Manchester United on loan for the rest of the season.

Antony has joined Laliga side Real Betis, with the winger hoping to rediscover his form after struggling at Old Trafford. The winger has not made much of an impact since joining United from Ajax in a big-money deal in 2022.

And after the loan move was confirmed, Antony took to social media to share some photos of his unveiling with the caption: “Intense day! A new story created!” Betis will cover most of Antony's wages, but the deal does not include an option or obligation to buy.

As a result, the 24-year-old will return to United next season and manager Ruben Amorim will hope Antony returns to Old Trafford with renewed confidence. The Brazilian has not started a single Premier League game under Amorim and, when asked about his future last month, said: “He needs more confidence.

“If you remember Antony at Ajax, he lacks a bit of confidence to go one-V-one, so he will improve.” But he works very hard, he tries, he plays more inside than outside. You have to do that to work very hard and that will help him become a better player. “

Antony is not expected to be the last player to leave United this month, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both heavily linked with moves away from Old Trafford. Rashford has not played for United since December and has publicly stated that he is “ready for a new challenge”.

Barcelona are among those interested in his services and when asked about Rashford's future ahead of United's clash with Fulham on Sunday, Amorim said: “I don't know [if he will leave]. I really don't know.

“We'll see at the end of the window what happened. And then we'll talk about it at that time.” Garnacho has now been linked to both Serie A side Napoli and Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Asked if Garnacho may have made his last appearance for United, Amorim said: “No, I'm focused on the games and he's here, he's a player for Manchester United. Was really important for us today and let's put it in watch the next few days.

'I think he is improving in every aspect of the game. He was better today [against Rangers] Playing from inside, also outside, changing positions, he improves the recovering position. You can see it up to 90 minutes that he is always there to recover and help, sometimes showing some frustration and that is good because he wants more.

“I think he has potential to be so much better in every situation in the game. What I can say is that he understood what I was trying to do, it was really clear, I just want to help them, but at the end of the day it's them who do the job.”
