Antony warned what will immediately happen if he returns to Man Utd this summer

Antony played on loan at Real Betis after he had endured a difficult time at Manchester United, but even his performances in La Liga may not be enough to help him revive his Red Devil career

Antony has been told that he is sliding back in the same old rut as he returns to Manchester United this summer, even though he impresses on loan at Real Betis. The Brazilian struggled to make his £ 86 million price tag to be achieved after he arrived at United of Ajax in 2022. He only started twice under Ruben Amorim after the appointment of the 39-year-old as Red Devils Boss in November.

Betis gave him a lifeline in the transfer window of January by agreeing a deal to loan him for the rest of the season. Since then he played for the La Liga side, scored four goals and noted four assists in 12 games.

But there was no option to buy a clause included in the deal that brought the 25-year-old to the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Despite that former united assistant coach Rene Meulensteen believes that the winger should push an exit from Old Trafford in the summer.

“Antony has no future at Manchester United. If I were him, I would no doubt stay with Real Betis. He never really realized the expectations or the price tag at United,” Meulensteen told Aos.

“But he has found his feet in Spain. He seems to be a lot happier and in life in Betis – which is the most important thing.

“If he returned to Manchester, he would immediately fall back into the routine in which he was before he left, which would not be good for anyone. I cannot see him return under any circumstances; it is probably best for all parties that he comes to a permanent deal.”

After Sunday's victory over bitter rivals Sevilla, Antony also expressed his luck with life at Betis. He said to Dazn: “I feel happier and more satisfied when I was myself, and I was here.

“I am very grateful for everyone's affection, for the players. I am very happy here, my focus is on Betis, I enjoy the city, the club and everything every day, and I am very happy. The last time I experienced was in Brazil when I played for Sao Paulo.

Did you say! Does Ruben amorim Antony have to bring back in the fold? Respond below.

“I spoke with my family yesterday and today, and I was in my room, and the fans were incredible in the hotel, during training and everything, and that makes us want to play more. I am very happy with the performance of today and that we have the three points.”

Veteran Betis star Isco recently joked that betis might have to be crowdfund to be able to bring Antony permanently back. Their record signature remains the £ 22 million spent on the Brazilian winger Denilson in 1998 and a similar fee would still be a huge loss for United.

“We have to go crowdfund so that he can stay at least another year,” Isco recently told Dazn. “He has surprised us all with his humility and with his willingness to help and add. We have noticed a change since he arrived. We are happy for him and for the team.”
